Position Overview

Responsible for providing supplemental financial aid management assistance to the EOP Financial Aid Counselor.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist the EOP Financial Aid Counselor.
2. Respond to student, parent, and staff inquiries related to financial aid and Bursar policies and procedures.
3. Work with students and University departments to resolve problems with disbursement of financial aid and charges/payments to Bursar accounts.
4. Determine student eligibility for refunds and request/monitor disbursement of refund checks.
5. Determine student eligibility for registration hold waivers and request waivers for eligible students.
6. Monitor student Bursar accounts for accuracy of charges and payments.
7. Initiate requests for corrections and adjustments to Bursar accounts.
8. Monitor student compliance with Payment Arrangement Agreements and modify as needed.
9. Generate and distribute student Aid and Expense Statements and Payment Arrangement Agreements.
10. Collaborate with Bursar and Financial Aid offices.
11. May compile statistics and generate ad hoc reports for Financial Aid Counselor.
12. May prepare financial aid component of federal TRIO Annual Performance Report.
13. May have supervision of student employees.
14. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

High school diploma
Requires two or more years of financial aid experience.
Knowledge of regulations and guidelines for various student financial aid programs; Able to work in a team environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal with diverse constituencies.
Strong computer competency, to include proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Access), and web- based and social media applications.
Demonstrated attention to detail, professional attitude, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor degree
Financial aid counseling experience;
Knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions software.
Personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting students in the Project’s target population.
Work experience or background in a higher education environment.
