The Department of Social and Cultural Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2018.

The Department of Social and Cultural Sciences offers undergraduate majors in Sociology, Anthropology, Criminology and Law Studies, and Social Welfare and Justice. Duties and Responsibilities

We seek applicants to teach primarily in the Sociology program, with expertise in the areas of social movements and collective behavior. The candidate who is hired will be expected to teach sections of Research Methods (with both qualitative and quantitative components) and Social Movements as well as other courses relevant to their areas of expertise. The ability to contribute to other majors in the department and to curriculum being developed around Race and Ethnic Studies, will be considered an asset.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Earned doctorate or a terminal degree. Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and high quality research.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly productivity, and a clear research agenda. A PhD in Sociology or related field is required by the time of the appointment.
